Churches Together Ecology Group petition handed in

Many thanks to all of you who supported the The Churches Together Ecology Group’s petition about the Environment, either in Church or in South Street last week. We collected over 250 signatures asking the County Council to take the lead in tackling climate change in the county by reducing our carbon emissions, and actively promoting renewable energy and energy saving. Many of those signing mentioned lights being on all day and night in public buildings and in street lighting on Poundbury.

The Churches Together Ecology Group had a fruitful discussion about the petition and its aims with officers from the County Council. The petition will be officially handed to the Chief Executive Debbie Ward this week. We are planning to discuss ways of implementing the petition with the County Councillors in the near future.

transept just by the coffee.

More than 200 pilgrims from the UK and from other nations and including
those from Salisbury arrived safely in Paris and presented the Christian Aid Petition that many of us signed some weeks ago.
