Open the Book aims to bring the Bible to life for every child in every primary school. It gives children the opportunity to discover the wonder and wisdom of the Bible for themselves.
It began in 1999 when a group of Christians in Bedford started presenting Bible stories in school assemblies. It become so popular, because it is so accessible and enjoyable, that now churches all over the country are taking Open the Book into their local primary schools. Today many children are missing out on great classic Bible stories. Noah, Daniel and the life of Jesus are some of the many stories that Open the Book is bringing into schools. Teams of volunteers throughout the country use drama, mime, props, costumes and even the children and staff themselves to present the Bible stories in lively, fun and informative ways.
We are currently looking to build a team of people, so we can offer Open the Book to local primary schools in the Benefice. Would you be interested in becoming a Storyteller? Maybe you are good at crafts or making costumes and could help in this way? You will have a lot of fun!
